Overview | Murray and Mary Rogers go to India representing the Church of England as missionaries of the Church Mission Society. Disillusioned with the established Christianity they found, they spent a year at Gandhi's ashram, then built a Christian ashram, Jyotiniketan. Members, married and single, lived a simple rule of life, wore saffron robes and enriched their daily Eucharist with Hindu texts and chants. Spiritual mentors and personal friends included Henri le Saux (Abishiktinanda) and Raimundo Panikkar. For more info, see the review in The Living Church, July11, 2021.
